July Round-Up!
July has been a big one for us at Fight or Flight. It’s been full of movement, meaningful moments and some major milestones. Whether you’ve been walking, boxing, stretching or showing up in other ways, we’re so proud of the community that’s building here.
Starting Strong After Newbury
We rolled into July still buzzing after the unbelievable charity night at Newbury Racecourse at the end of June. What a night.
A massive shoutout to Ross and Lewis for pulling together such a powerful evening. We had over 150 guests, a three-course dinner, and a brilliant panel of jockeys hosted by Frankie Foster
It was a real celebration of the sport, community and the strength we can find in coming together for a cause. We managed to raise vital funds for both Fight or Flight and the Injured Jockeys Fund and the response from the racing world has been nothing short of amazing.
Boxing Tuesdays: Sweat, Smiles and Support
Our Tuesday night boxing sessions have been full of energy and sweat. Every week we’re seeing at least 10 people show up, regardless of experience. Some have never boxed before, others are picking it back up again but all leave with a big smile and a sense of achievement.
Boxing isn’t just about physical fitness. It helps reduce stress, boost mood and build self-confidence. Plus, there’s something pretty special about seeing people from all walks of life come together, gloves on, supporting one another.
Walk and Talks: Connection in Every Step
The Men’s Walk and Talk sessions have been as solid as ever, especially with the sunshine out in full force. Reigate Hill has been showing off with stunning views lately and the conversations have been just as powerful. We’ve seen some amazing progress. A few of the lads have felt confident enough to start extra support alongside the walks, like counselling and CA meetings. That’s exactly what this is all about. Creating a space where people feel safe enough to open up, be themselves and take steps forward.
The Women’s Walk and Talk, held every two weeks in Priory Park, has been a slower build, but a really lovely one. It’s such a refreshing way to spend a Sunday. Whether we’re chatting about the big stuff or just having a catch-up, there’s always laughter, support and that uplifting feeling of moving into a new week with clarity and connection.
Yoga Thursdays: Breathe, Move, Reflect
Thursday evenings at Very Yoga in Reigate have been our time to slow things down. These sessions are open to everyone, no experience needed and are a chance to reconnect with yourself, move your body and take a much-needed pause in what can feel like a very loud world.
Paws for a Cause: Dogs, Community & a Great Cause 🐾
July also brought one of our most joyful events yet. Paws for a Cause. From the charity walk where the weather wasn’t exactly on our side to the dog show that genuinely had everyone smiling and laughing, it was exactly what days like this are all about: community, fun and coming together for a cause that matters. We raised money for Rescue Remedies, a local dog rescue that not only gives dogs a second chance but also helps the people who walk them. For a lot of volunteers, those daily dog walks are a big boost for their mental health so it really is a charity that helps both ends of the lead.
Thank you to everyone who came to support and made the event possible. We’re looking forward to our next events…
Looking Ahead: August and Beyond
As we head into August, all our weekly events will continue. Boxing, walks and yoga are still going strong. Behind the scenes, we’re also getting into planning mode. Some big events are coming up next year and we’re getting ahead now to make sure they’re something really special.
We’re always looking to grow the community, so whether you’ve been to one event or you’re thinking about coming for the first time, this is your sign. Come walk, move, box, chat or simply show up. There’s always a place for you here.
